The recession has led to endless talk of austerity measures, making-do-and-mending and growing your own vegetables on an allotment. But the big question is, of course, what to wear while mulching the compost
on your carrots. Tiffany Tondut, Louise Taylor and Samantha Doty all agreed that the uniform of the Land Girls of the Second World War served their needs adequately. The only disadvantage was that it caught the
roving eyes of a couple of off-duty tommies - who had more than contraband tobacco on their minds.
